Genie 1256727GT Joystick Control Box (Gen 6 Platform)

May 12, 2025

The 1256727GT is Genie’s Gen 6 platform control box — the upper box with the proportional joystick, E-stop, and coiled cable — not the ground-control enclosure at the base of the machine.

If drive/lift from the platform is dead, intermittent, or the E-stop will not reset cleanly, this assembly is often the part shops replace as a unit.

What You Are Buying

| Spec | Detail | |------|--------| | OEM PN | 1256727GT (also listed as 1256727 / GE-1256727) | | Type | Gen 6 platform control box with proportional joystick | | Layout | Joystick + function buttons + red E-stop on yellow collar | | Cable | Coiled platform cable with multi-pin connector | | Role | Operator controls from the deck (drive / lift / steer functions) |

This is a complete upper control box, not a bare joystick handle. Cheap “joystick only” listings online are a different repair path and often will not fix a failed box PCB, E-stop, or harness.

Common Fitment (Confirm Serial / Parts Manual)

Widely used on Genie Gen 6 scissor and runabout platforms, including many:

  • GS series: GS-1930, GS-1932, GS-2032, GS-2046, GS-2632, GS-2646, GS-3246, GS-4047 (and close variants)
  • GR / GRC runabouts: GR-12, GR-15, GRC-12 (where Gen 6 platform controls apply)

Always match the PN stamped on your existing box or the parts breakdown for your serial. Genie has shipped multiple platform-box generations; a Gen 5 box is not a drop-in for Gen 6 wiring in every case.

When to Replace the Whole Box

Replace the 1256727GT assembly when you see:

  • No drive or lift from the platform, but ground controls still work
  • Joystick that sticks, drifts, or only works in one axis
  • E-stop that will not pull out / reset, or trips randomly
  • Broken coiled cable, crushed connector, or water intrusion in the housing
  • Intermittent faults that clear when you wiggle the platform cable

Before condemning the box, rule out:

  1. Platform enable / foot switch (if equipped) and E-stop state
  2. Battery voltage under load
  3. Obvious harness damage at the platform entry and at the ground box
  4. Active fault codes on the display (Genie error-code overview)

Swap Outline (Field)

  1. Lower the platform, chock the machine, and remove key power.
  2. Tag the coiled-cable connector orientation, then unplug it.
  3. Remove the mounting hardware holding the old box to the guardrail / console.
  4. Seat the new box, route the coil so it cannot pinch in the rails, and reconnect.
  5. Power up, reset E-stop, and function-test drive, lift, and steer from the platform in an open area.

No software flash is normally required for a like-for-like 1256727GT — if the machine still faults after a clean swap, chase chassis wiring or the ground control box next.
